Default What Do You Call This Thingy?

I know I've seen them, but I haven't got a clue as to what they're called. It's the metal shaft that is threaded in the interior so that it can act as a female to a bolt. The shaft is then glued into a hole in wood, so that a bolt can be threaded in and out multiple times without damaging the wood.

Help?

I've never used glue in, the ones I have used in a few furniture building projects were simply called "threaded inserts" and "cross dowels". They are used for exactly what you describe. might want to try woodcraft.com, they sell alot woodworking hardware.

Not quite. Here's a pic: What Do You Call This Thingy?-12j20_230.jpg

I want to build a table that will travel a lot. I need to be able to take the legs off and put them on often.
