 What Do You Call This Thingy? I know I've seen them, but I haven't got a clue as to what they're called. It's the metal shaft that is threaded in the interior so that it can act as a female to a bolt. The shaft is then glued into a hole in wood, so that a bolt can be threaded in and out multiple times without damaging the wood. Help?

| Re: What Do You Call This Thingy? I've never used glue in, the ones I have used in a few furniture building projects were simply called "threaded inserts" and "cross dowels". They are used for exactly what you describe. might want to try woodcraft.com, they sell alot woodworking hardware. RT |
