Getting lucky

When I was a kid, my father coached our baseball teams, and after a funky win, he would say, "sometimes it's better being lucky than good."

We've had a good break on our house renovation project. Carrie was at the Kelly-Moore paint store checking out their venetian plaster, and started talking with a paint and plaster contractor, who basically said, "I can do that; why don't I come by and take a look."

They have turned out to be our best builders, and they are doing an excellent job of the plaster prep work. We've started planning the venetian plaster and painting for the entire house. He's a young, up and coming guy, his crew is very good, and his rates are really reasonable. I'm guessing he will start getting booked up in a couple of years as word gets out.

I'll take lucky.
