Outdoor lighting

What did you do for outdoor lighting? Did it work for nighttime pizza preparation? Seeing into the oven when you cook? Mood lighting when you eat?

I am leaning toward putting a couple of post lights in the backsplash...

I'm working on my oven this spring. I was planning on stringing some white "Christmas" light under the Pergola. For the oven light I was planning on using a small clamp light with a flexible head (yet to get one yet).

As luck would have it, I have an existing halogen motion light on the side of my house that is perfectly aligned.
For interior light, I have a bucket of sawdust for Instant Lighting.

I was just considering that question formy own needs today. Lighting of both types would be perfect. Something about waist level that shines in the oven without blinding those hovering around, and track or flood lighting from above to provide ambient light for the area. There are people who specialize in lighting alone. Pehaps you should consult a "specialist".

A fire in the oven, a flashlight in the mouth and a bare bulb lamp....

I'm still working on this one so hearing what works is appreciated.

So happens that, for giggles, I plummed natural gas to my outdoor kitchen project. Now I'm considering gas lamps for light around the oven as opposed to electrical ones. Can't turn them on with a switch, but softer and way moodier.

My plans continue.....

I have finished my LED controller for the concrete countertops - I will have LED's behind marbles inside the the countertop and provide some cool lighting there.

I have enough LED drivers available on my controller board to also allow me to replace some pavers with home made pavers with LED's embedded in them - they will work in concert with the countertop LED controller. Don't think christmas lights - but it's a similar concept - think stars and constellations and an ocassional shooting star across your countertop..... and patio

I'm happy with my internal Pizza open lighting - but still need to work on my grill and countertop lighting - I don't want local lighting so I may use street lights at each end of the patio - draw the bugs away from the outdoor kitchen but still provide light. BTW picture of oven was taken at 9:30 pm without flash.

I'm looking for ideas as well.

The full-time bakers (bread) around here seem to favor those halogen work lights mounted on a movable arm for their ovens (barrel-vault type). I don't have an oven (yet) but I'm very familiar with the flashlight-in-the-mouth method of task lighting for all my other outdoor cooking.

haven't built my oven yet..and not sure how i'm going to light that but it will be located just off the covered patio which has 2 jelly jar lights..one at each end which work well for grilling and eating..for mood i use the pool deck lights..the deck is located at the far end of the pool..i buried electric to the pool for the lights..the pump and a couple outlets underneath,,all gfci protected..with switches on the patio and on the deck..i lean back in my rocker..flip the switch and the lighted reflection off the water is beautiful
