| Warning to the Ladies....or men with long hair!! Funny but not tooo funny. We have been using our oven for just a bit over one year. I'm very comfortable and have no fear of the blazing hot temps! Last night we were hosting a mini high school reunion lots of people and tons going on we were running late so Phil left me with some of the duties. As Phil went in to take a shower he asked if i could in 10 mins time throw a log on the fire. So after 10 mins I go to the oven and toss the log in. It falls off and i wanted it on the top. I grab the welding gloves reach in and place the log on top of the fire. I hear something sizzle and then a nasty smell. Well i burnt my hair and a good chunk of it. If was coming off in my hands in chunks its a mess. new rule for me when working in the oven the hair is held back in a pony tail!!

| <nods> Both fire and power tools are excellent reasons for pony tails... Buns are even better...

| Maybe it's time to put clinker grabbers back in production:

| Hey Dmun, Does that Clinker Grabber work pretty well for you? That is a darn good looking tool, and it looks like it should be helpful in moving wood around in the hot oven... JED |

| I only use it once in a while, but when you need it, there's nothing like it. Every house that had a coal furnace had one, which was almost every house. They're surprisingly rare now.

| I burned my hair the other day, and I have short hair. I did not even notice. I was back in the kitchen and my wife asked what was in my hair. We quickly determined I had singed my hair throwing a log in the oven. My wife had a really hard time getting her laughter under control long enough to trim the burnt part out before our guests came over... Drake

| OO Drake, didn't you notice that horrid smell? I usually do have my hair up when dealing with the oven- I also have a cap with LED lights in the brim I wear when it's not bright daylight out to help me see in the oven. I always put my hair up under it when I wear it. I watched my dad's hair burn when I was little and we were roasting marshmallows on the shore- he didn't know it was on fire and kept trying to fight my mom off when she was hitting his head! It took a few seconds for him to figure it out, but I'll always remember the way she took off for him screaming "John John John" and swiping at his head.
