Talking Quotes that relate to brick ovens

I see some members have there signature set up to post a qoute along with there message. Canuck Jim's is "Made are tools, and born are hands"--William Blake, 1757-1827 Archena has "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot

I found a few others that made me laugh that might be appropriate for brick oven construction and for baking.

"Just because something doesn't do what you planned it to do doesn't mean it's useless" Thomas Edison

"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never
tried anything new." Albert Einstein

"Hell, there are no rules here-- we're trying to accomplish something." Thomas Edison

"Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration" Thomas Edison

"Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon." Dalai Lama

“The smell of good bread baking, like the sound of lightly flowing water, is indescribable in its evocation of innocence and delight.”
M. F. K. Fisher (1908-1992)

If anyone has some others that are amusing that we can relate to brick ovens please do post them here.

John

John,

How about a musical reference: "Thick as a Brick," Jethro Tull.

Thumbs up Re: Quotes that relate to brick ovens

We could also add a slight twist to the musical theme with
"another brick in the wall" to "another brick in the dome"

Now that you mention it,

"Pizza is a lot like sex, when it's good, it's really good. When it's bad, it's still pretty good."

Winston churchill was at a dinner party swearing and getting drunk when a woman said "if you were my husband I would poison your food"
His response "if I were your husband I would eat it."

Ok, now that is slighly off the pizza topic but I love it...another great Churchill quote:

Bessie Braddock: Sir, you are drunk.
Churchill: And you, madam, are ugly. But in the morning, I shall be sober.

while on Churchill.......wasn't one of his interests bricklaying....I know he was into other stuff but this was something he reportedly enjoyed doing when having time out from political life
