| I attended a wine and food show on Friday and got to sample a wonderful array of lovely taste treats - no wood fired pizza, however, two things stood out ... First, for anyone in Ontario (sorry everyone else), especially the central or Toronto area, there's a great new Artisan cheese operation called Fifth Town that recently started up in Prince Edward county (Picton). Their blue chevre is really good, as were the others I sampled. Second is the ice ciders coming out of Quebec - every bit as good as ice wine, if not even better, and far less expensive! I tried the two biggest sellers - Pinnacle, very good and sold world-wide, and Neige, even better in my opinion and soon to have a wider distribution into other countries. If you stumble upon either of these where you are, give them a try! Ironically, there was a prominent article about ice cider in this Saturday's Montreal Gazette - worth a read - here's the link: Ice cider rules It describes the taste and the process better than I can. |
