Default Great American Beer Festival

Hey All,

I am going to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver tomorrow.

400+ brewers serving 1800+ beers.

Do you have any favorites that I should go check out?

The full list of brewers is here:

Brewers Association Great American Beer Festival

If you have never tried Fat Tire, give it a go.

It is one of my favorites.

1 more 1 more! While I was in Seattle we had the Alaskan Amber, it is very nice as well.

Do they provide a shuttle bus, or does everyone just crawl home!

Hi Dave,
Fat Tire counts as a local beer here, brewed up in Fort Collins CO.

I will give that Alaskan Amber a try...

Personally, I am taking the train (light rail) down and back...

Being in West Texas, we consider beer from Colorado as fine imports! Especially Fat Tire.

And since your are not driving, you might try all of them!

Yeah Coors light or Bud light! Sorry guys, I tried all those local brews and fancy brews growing up. I knew Sam Adams when he was just 'little Sammy' ! They're all fine if you like the heavier brews or beers made with honey, raspberry, blueberry, corn, eye of newt, seaweed, hay or whatever. Personally I've gone full circle back to good ole' 'construction sodas' (mass produced American light beers)!!!! Anyways, Enjoy the beer fest! It's all a matter of taste and a fun time for all!
Best to all,
Rick

Hey Bacterium,
Here in Denver we like the Wynkoop so much that the owner is now the mayor...really!!
That place is going strong. Open fermentation and traditional ales.

Oventhusiast, you know what they say about coors light and bud light?

They are like making love in a canoe...
(or fu@&ing close to water...)

Drake,

You and Eric Idle (Hollywood Bowl, I think) couldn't have said it better.

Yeah I liked Wynkoop......I like the owner/mayor thing. I had a Wynkoop t-shirt I bought and wore it for years(between washes of course). Some Aussies used to have a perception that American beer was week as water (we say weak as pi$$)....however my Denver mate had me soon educated.

I suppose its a bit like Fosters - most here nowadays think its below average - yet internationally people sees it as something very Australian (which it kinda still is). However its not until you get to the micro brew stuff where you find some truly interesting beers.

Commercially for Oz beers you can't go past some of the Tasmanian stuff - brands like Cascade and James Boag.
