Bread Bash

Just a reminder as the 19th of May approaches quickly. That's the day for the Annual Mary G's Bread Bash in the populous village of Prince Albert, Ontario. Anybody on the Forum is welcome here that day, even Serfs (I need the labor). There will be lots of bread and eats on hand. Just bring a lawn chair and your beverage of choice. Contributions, in the form of large quantities of seasoned hardwood, would be greatly appreciated.

Joe Engineer & Co are making the trek once more, by way of Niagara Falls and the Bata Shoe Museum. Xabia Jim might make it if he can duck the stork. Just send me an email for directions if you can attend.

Actually it may be quite temperate considering that Jim is South of: Montana, North Dakota, Washington, most of Minnesota, half of Michigan and some Eastern states too.

May have told you this one. Once, when I was in Palm Springs, I ran into a very large rancher from North Dakota near the border. He regaled me with stories of Canadians skiing in July, etc., etc. I politely informed him that I lived well south of his location, on about the same latitude as Northern California, and where he lived saw a lot more snow and was a lot colder than where I was. He haw-hawed a lot, and simply didn't believe me, so I bet him fifty bucks on the outcome. Easy matter to find an Atlas. Easy fifty bucks, too.

I've been on the shore of the Beaufort Sea in a place called Tuktoyuktuk at the the most northerly point of the Yukon Territory in July. There were small bergs in the sea, but that didn't stop the Inuk children from splashing around. July is 24 hour daylight time up there. The temperature was 90 F at 8 pm, and you could almost see the giant ferns growing, inch by inch.

Coldest I think I've ever been (Yukon in January excepted) is Oxfordshire in May. Thatched cottage with two foot thick stone walls: creeping damp cold up to your knees.

In the travel section I posted my revised itenearay of corssing the us 2x in one week. Seeing as the new banner is green and carbon offsets, do you think the state of South californioa will be fined by the World Carbon Offset Police (WCOP) for the massive release of fossil fuels this past week? I am referring to the major blase we had at Griffith Park followed by the 4000 acre plus fire on catalina Island. In light of those 2 fires I think flyiung arounf for 20 hours on kerosene is not as bad!

And speaking of the fires, there is an actor from Gray's Anatomy [the bartender] who lives in the Griffith Park area. He was evacuated during the fire and decided to get away from it all.

Any guesses where he went? Catalina Island, of course. Only to be evacuated again.
