I found this site while looking for info on ovens, and I dont think there is any reason to look further.
has any body built an oven with the fire box below the cooking surface.
lookin forward to learning everything I can.

The firebox-below design is called a "white oven" because the combustion fumes don't enter the cooking area. I know that you just said you don't need to look further, but there are not a lot of white oven folks here. Check out the Masonry Heater Association for more info on white ovens.
