| Well, another one from Downunder. Hobart, Tasmania. House extensions happening soon and the plan is to build a WFO upon completion. Came across this site and it would seem that this is the place to be. Interested on a Pompei style oven but i am very keen on tapered cutting of the bricks to reduce the mortar etc. I like the finish as well. Anyway, good to be in the company of knowledgeable people. Cheers Steve |

| Yeh Steve, welcome aboard. You might like to check out Hendo's oven. Paul died earlier this year and I have committed to complete it with his brichie for his family to use. Paul used the taperred bricks and was fastideous in cutting them to fit but never got it completed. You can view it at: http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/h...nues-3902.html My 40" Pompeii was made with second hand fire bricks and the full build with explanations and pics is at: http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/n...-1-a-2005.html You will find a multitude of information in this form, the biggest problem is sifting through some of it (as you will never be able to read and comprehend all of it), and making the right decission. Good luck. Neill

| Toyota08. This topic came up a few months/weeks ago, see: www.fornobravo.com/forum/f2/aussie-readers-4516.html#post36869Don't waste your time. read the posts. Living in Melbourne, yu are not far from the biggest supplier of refactory bricks and ebay often has fire bricks in Melbourne up for grabs. You should be able to build a damn good oven using secondhand bricks/cement blocks for between $1000 mand $1500 all up, or if you want to go full on, then nearer or over $10 000. Mine owes me $1200 and that is with thermocouples, cast doors, stainless chimney and a host of other goodies. See it at: http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/n...-1-a-2005.html and follow the links to the different threads. Neill
