Question Perlcrete mortar mixture

How fast does the perlcrete insulation layer set up?

I'm going to use a combination of used insulating firebrick and perlite / perlite mortar for the insulating hearth....just wondering about any experience you have with the consistency of the perlite mixture for that purpose??

Seems to be about a week for a normal 6-7:1 mix, or much quicker if you add Sodium Silicate.

Depends how quick you want to continue

Cheers

It took one day for me.

Then I started working on my thermal layer followed by oven floor.
