Question Baking stone

I did a search on baking stone on this forum, but didn't see anything come up on the first page of links for my question. I was wondering if an oven baking stone could be used for part of the floor in a brick oven, instead of soapstone or firebricks.

The amount of mass in the floor is critical, well kind of. As long as your floor is well insulated and about 2.25" thick you'd be fine.

Also, there are different kinds of baking stones. A lot of them are plain terra-cotta and just like they break in your oven, i suspect they would do even worse with direct fire on them.

Fire bricks are cheap in the US. There is no reason not to use them.
