Default Presidential WFO menu

SO excited (and sad) for tonights party. Our good friend is moving to Baltimore MD she has a new job as the President of an all girls school. She also has a passion for US Presidents! So Chef Phil and I are giving her a going away party "Dinner Impossible" style.

She gave us a list of her top ten US Presidents we had to create a menu based on the favorite foods of some of those men. She has no idea as to why she had to provide the list...this is gonna be fun. Will post photos, but here is the menu

John Adams - French Cheese Board
Harry Truman - Aspargus and Tomato salad
FDR - Hot Dogs
Teddy Roosevelt - Bison Sliders
Abraham Lincoln - Corn bread with bacon
JFK - Boston Baked Beans
George Washingtonm- Cherry pie

She HATE George W Bush...I'm a fan so we are also having Pretzles

Now for one that needs a lot of explaining

James Garfield - Squirrel Stew Garfield was shot while president but did not die right away he was ill for 2 months and was not getting better and was not eating. His FAVORTIE food was Squirrel stew and his Dr's thought if he was served the Squirrel soup/stew he may eat it and recover. So special permission was granted to shoot squirrels on the White House property. He never did recover. We are not serving squirrel but we are making a cornish game hen stew and calling it squirrel stew....this should be interesting!!

Wish us luck!

We are using to oven for quite a few things...we also have a BBQ pit attatched to the WFO so that will be used to grill the asparagus, bison sliders and hot dogs. The WFO will be used for the corn and bacon bread, cherry pie, squirrel (cornish hen) stew; due to time we started the baked beans in the crock pot but will finish in the oven..ahh just tought of something else I'm going to bake some Brie in puff pastry in the oven, better go get the puff pastry dough at the store! The more stuff that comes out of that oven the better!! LOL!! Everything tastes better with wood!!

Pics? Enjoyed reading this, though pretty early in the a.m. to get excited about a few items on the menu...

Fun to read about how others are using their WFOs and looking forward to getting our finished!
