Here's my door, and the only problem so far has been the wood cupping badly from the inside drying out more than the outside. I'm going to try straightening this (rehydrating inside) and cross laminating another layer of wood vertically in strips with alternating grain in hopes of minimizing cupping.

We have been using the oven (and door) for a couple months now, and I am happy with the way the door works. I would prefer if the door weighed just a bit less, it is not a feather light...

One objective I had when building this door was to create a thermal 'break' from the hot side to the cold side. On that count this door works fine.

try "woodstove door" search on ebay
there are some reasonable cast iron doors
I used a boiler door
