| Hi, here are a couple of pics of my oven foundation and a cad model of the design. Heres the site almost excavated, with a few datums. ![]() Heres the foundation, I diddnt snap any pics of the mesh/rebar/boxing, this is 0.43 of a cubic metre ~ 8 wheel barrows of hand mixed concrete. You can see where I have marked out for the support wall. ![]() Heres the support wall, with half a course left (they are now done). ![]() Its pretty hot and sunny so I have stuck up a temporary shade cloth. Heres what Im heading towards, its a 1100mm internal diameter Popei style oven, I have made the insulating layer and bricks recessed to my cooking surface is level with my bench height. I havnt fully modelled the door arch or bricks they were really only modelled to figure out how many bricks to order as they are expensive in NZ ($4.50+GST each). ![]() My next mission is the boxing which is a bit of a mission. Ill post some more pics and a cross section of the whole thing when I get the boxing completed. Mitch |

| Mitch, are you going to stucco the exterior? Looks like you would have no room for framing the exterior upon completion, with insulation layers added into this. The cad details this nicely. Be sure you reenforced the brick wall and to reenforce the slab well.

| Well the boxing turned out to be an absolute mission, it took 2 sheets of 1200x2400 9mm plywood and 3 sheets 1200x2400 5mm hardboard, plus about 60 Meters of 100x25 boxing wood and lots of nails screws and bog and beer. Having designed such a crazy bench to recess my bricks to be flush with the bench and fit in the space I had made for allot of work, heres a cad model I build so I could lay out the pieces on the sheet to keep the costs down by minimizing wastage. ![]() And heres the almost finished boxing, I have a bit of sanding left to morrow then I will pour the concrete. ![]() ![]() Hope it doesn't fall over. |
