Got there in the end! OK, here's the full set as promised. Took a while to get the chimney cap made, but there we go. Can't believe this day actually came around! It's been a long struggle, but hopefully worth it! fire_bubble pictures by clever_dick - Photobucket
Probably broke a few rules here and there and had to improvise in places. Interesting how Ephrem don't recommend insulating the floor other than with a "thin layer of lean mortar" - maybe it's because it's always warm in the South of France (unlike here) and not necessary!
Additional insulation is in the form of a thick rockwool layer over the top of the ceramic blanket, with some loose vermiculite poured in around the outside of the cooking floor.
