| Hi to all out there, I joined up today after entering your site as I cannot believe the amount of info that is available. But where do I start? If I sift through all the wonderfull info before I get going, I will be pushing up the daisies before I finnish! I wanted to build a vault type oven and then I read about circular ovens being better. I want to cook anything, not elephants, just small dishes, so I assume that the circular oven would be best. Advice on plans and designs I supose would be the first place to start, but I do not want build from a kit. Look forward to any replies. Victor |

| We have many more round dome ovens here than barrel vaults. It's what the free download plans describe. For a home oven that has faster heat-up, pizzalike temperatures possible, and more economical operation, the round dome may be the way to go. Your first job is to find a few basic materials: Firebrick, vermiculite, refractory insulation, flue tile or manufactured chimney units. These are sometimes hard to find in hot climates. And yes, read as much as you can, and ask questions. |

| Victor, David nailed it. You came to the right forum. I don't think that you could possibly ask a question that hasn't been addressed (and if we don't have the answer, we're pretty good with BS ). Download the plans - get excited, and good luck with your build.Les...

| Welcome to the site and glad you found it. I never thought there was such a community out there till I found this one. The info can be overwhelming until you decide what you want. Here is the link to the forum post explaining how to download the plans for the pompeii style oven. Enjoy. http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/p...load-1674.html (Pompeii Plans Ready for Download)

| Yes, the amount of info is overwhelming! But you don't have to read everything before starting your build... download the plans and just research the different questions as and when they turn up. I'm sure you'll feel right at home here in no time!

| Find a thread of someone who built an oven that you really like. (ken's for instance) And use that for a guide along with the plans. I think it is also helpful to find someone that is building at the same time as you (several if possible) And keep up with their pics and posts. I built about the same time as Ken and Kemo and several others. Anyways.. Welcome aboard, and enjoy the obsession. Dave
