| Hi all, I am considering buying a DIY oven in Aus, only because I wouldnt know where to buy all the components live Vermiculite & fire bricks etc. Is there anyone in Australia that can point me in the right direction on where to buy all this stuff.... I am a chippy so I can do all the work myself. |

| Hi Knackers, it depends where abouts in this wonderful land of ours you live as to where to buy your goods. You don't necessarily need to use firebricks, older solid common reds will suffice (see Russell Jeavon's book for more specific information) and there are numerous providers of vermiculite from nurserymen, pool builders and refractory suppliers. I got mine from a very helpful supplier here in Adelaide called Thermal Ceramics. They can also provide at much more realistic prices the fireclay. You don't need all those high temp refractory adhesives either but if you have a pile of cash t waste, then go for it. Neill

| The major supplier in Melbourne is 'Refractory and Ceramic' in Mulgrave and the best Sydney supplier is 'Field Furnace Refractories'. at Wetherill Park. Both have web sites or you will find their phone numbers in the directory. Wood fired oven workshops |
