Default Laying Brick Floor

I was wondering if I can just put my floor fire bricks right on top of the vermiculite/portland mix, or do I need to put a small layer of fire clay/sand . It is already level with just the vermiculite. Thank you

Thumbs up Re: Laying Brick Floor

The clay/sand mixture is used only to smooth out places that are not perfectly flat and level, which would leave the brick edges out to interfere with cooking. If you are flat and level already, you have the option to leave it that way.
