| Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with the following query. In the pompei oven plans it says that for the oven floor you can either use firebricks or '18" x 18" floor tiles provided with the forno bravo oven kit'. Are these special tiles or regular floor tiles? If so what thickness of tile should you use? Many thanks for any help in advance. Cheers Ross |

| A number of refractory suppliers here in the U.S. manufacture square 'tiles' of the same material used to make their firebricks. Here in Southern California I have seen 12"x24" tiles either 2 1/2" or 3" thick. The benefit of using tiles over firebricks is the reduction of seams in the floor. I believe the FB tile are made of the same cast refractory material as their domes. |
