Default cob oven interior break problem

hello
I am baking sourdough bread for more than 5 years from flour that i mill with
my milling machine.
I started to build cob ovens and after working with it for a while, I see that when i clean it inside after making a fire , I scratch the side of the oven
is there a way to prevent it
thank you
