| Can the base be framed out of pressure treated lumber and then bricked around. Would this be stong enough to hold the hearth and the oven as well as any enclosure that may be used to cover the dome? Would that even be cost effective? |

| Hi Roobgn! Welcome to the FB Forum. I wouldn't mess with the pressure treated lumber for the base. You need an absolutely rock-solid foundation and stand to hold your oven. The whole structure will weigh close or over a ton. If you want to do a brick stand (and a LOT of us have them), build it with cement blocks then brick it. If you dry-fit the block stand, it might go together faster than a lumber frame and be impervious to the shrinking, swelling, and sagging you'll get from wood. Be sure to post some pictures of your project when you get it started!

| I concur with Ken's post. Wood is a bad idea considering the weight and time. Wood WILL rot, and block will take quite some time to dissolve. At the end of the day, the cost is not that much different. Les...
