Default Forno bravo remote thermometer--anyone use it?

I'm considering purchasing the remote thermometer for a gift. Has anyone used it? Is it worth the price?

I have a similar one i bought off ebay
I love it,it drives the wife crazy
She tells me Im cold I tell her she cant be its 20C
Its good for checking the temp on cooking oil,for frying whole fish
I check the oven temp, the weber temp, the air temp, see if the fridge door is leaking
Everything and anything its very addictive

What kind of thermometer is it like a inferred laser type? If so I want one badly. I have used that type for work and you are right that can be addictive to see what the temp of every thing is.

I LOVE my remote thermometer......saves me walking all the way over to the grill/firepit/oven too often........sometimes 20 to 30 ft. away!
