Default Wood = Art?

I found this piece of wood today - Wandoo (White Gum) - note the grooves eaten by termites who have actually hollowed out the tree. They get this wood from a region south of Perth, finding fallen trees that have been drying for 2 - 5 years. Expensive, but makes a great fire...

It would make a nice lamp - unless it's going to be 'performance art'.

At least we are not seeing Jesus. I found a piece of driftwood way back when. It had an oval cutout in the middle. Sent me on a path of making digital clocks for a few years. I migrated to redwood burl and had one in my house that looked like a gremlin flipping you off - that WAS art.
