There are definitely some good ovens names out there.

Maybe christening is when you do your first pizzas and its that one (or two) where the toppings end up on the oven floor becuase you are still learning the peel.

...You know how there is the saying about how people look like their dogs (or Dogs resemble their owners)..... I'm guessing you "Northern oven cousins" have heard of this semi-humorous saying.......
Well...........I usually have a "bald nut" (shaved head).....kinda looks like the outside of my oven (stucco/render all over)..

Thumbs up Re: Are we supposed to christening our ovens

Now come on Damon,
you've been checking out my photos haven't you.
They say that you can't grow grass on a busy street and that a bald head is a sola panel for a sex machine .
Not too sure which one applies to me, but haven't even thought about developing a name for the oven.
I am not too keen to pour coke over it as it would attract the ants, although, as a non drinker, I could use up some of the stored wines/spirits/champagne that doesn't get drunk and christen it.
But who knows, down the track, I might need to put up a brass plaque to recognise something significant for the oven. I am yet to finish the insulation on the back of the oven doors and make the little plate up for the front recognising the contributions and inspiration of this forum.

When the clay oven cooled down enough after the maiden bake (which happened pretty fast because it wasn't insulated yet) we used it warm the Grand Cru. THat's sort of a christening, I suppose, though we didn't actually name it.

Had toyed with "Hades" as a name, though it's also been referred to as "the kennel" "pizza hut" and "Doug's pet crematorium" - don't ask
