Default Flies!!!
I just finished building my oven from scratch. I was curing it this weekend & noticed a lot of flies hanging out on the hearth. I have not started cooking yet so there is no food there. What is causing this problem & how can I keep the flies away.

they may be "cluster flies", do a Google search on them?

I just finished building my oven and i noticed a lot of flies and mud daubers hanging around. They seem to like heatstop mortar for some reason.

I think the mud daubers decided they would gather my motor to build themselves a fire proof home.

Just wait until you start preparing, assembling, cooking and eating your pizzas and the smell permiates the surrounding area. Then you will really experience some flies.
If you think you have "flies", come to outback Australia to really experience them!
