I have made a couple of modifications that I think will help new members.

I changed the Photo Gallery to work for non-registered users, so you can get a feel for the FB Forum, without having to register.

You need to register (1) Making a Posting, (2) Use Search, and (3) View Attachments in a Posting.

When a non-registered user views a posting with an attachment, the message now says "You must be registered to view attachments. Click to register. It is easy."

I also changed the greeting for non-registered members to make it more clear what you can and cannot do.

I have introduced numerous members who are concerned about putting their details on the forum just to view the pictures. After all, what is the use of the postings without the pictures.

I have been getting heaps (40-50 per week) after joining this (and my only) forum????

40-50? Per week? Man, I get about 2000-3000 a day. The perils of running an online business and having your email address reachable by spiders.

I started getting those before joining here. It seems they have taken email by storm. I guess I should be honored that I was chosen to handle millions of dollars from south africa (NOT).

FYI Neil, I have not had this problem so maybe it's not the FB tie.

I get very few also. I am very careful about where I leave my email address.
Also took the address out of the browser config. If something needs my address the browser has to ask for it.

I seem to be having a problem viewing attached photos.... at least I think they're attached..
In any posting where it has a box and the text inside it - Attached Thumbnails - there is never anything in the box.
I've tried it in the latest Firefox and tried it in Internet Explorer 7 - the box is ALWAYS empty.
I have no problem following a link and seeing the images, but any of the boxes with "Attached Thumbnails" - the boxes are always empty.
I should make clear that I am logged in when trying to view them...
Is it just me, or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for any guidance on this - as I do want to see these images.

James just completed an upgrade to the site. Other people are have problems viewing the thumbnails as well. Give it a few days and it should settle in.

We looked at it again, and the photos work in some places and not in others. The miracle of propagation.

On the spam thing, we use the best and most secure software out there, and I feel good that your email addresses are being protected. But spammers try incredibly hard to harvest email addresses. It's true criminal behavior. Oh well.
