Neill,

Thanks for the information. I will check with some of the Drywall suppliers in the area for that very product.

Progress during the thanksgiving holiday. I finally figured out my entry as well as built a template for the dome. Dry fit the first chain as well as tried to get a sense of how the dome would go up.

Finally got a lead in Jacksonville on some hydrated lime type s!!! Will pick up on Monday and start mortaring the first level and the entry!!! Once again this is addicting.

I did see lime in Lowes today though it might be a regional inventory.

Great work!

Bill,

It is a regional inventory. Just for others looking for type S Hydrated lime i believe i have finally tracked down the missing ingredient. In Jacksonville we have a Quikrete manufacturing facility, i got in touch with a salesperson there and he i asked for type S Hydrated lime. He said, "oh you mean Masons lime". I said i dont know!!! He found out that the Masons lime they have is type S hydrated lime so i am in business. I will be mortaring this weekend

Thumbs up Re: Woodheads WFO 42"

Great news,
now you can get down to business.
If you don't plan on cutting every brick to perfectly touch each other, you should be able to complete your dome in a full day or a couple of easy days.
Stick to your mortar formula and you will only need 2 barrows full for the dome!

Congratulations! You're right - it is totally addicting. I just put my flue liner in today and I can't wait for it to firm up a bit so I can actually build the chimney. I had a hard time with the lime, too, but the formula that FB has is great, and it totally works. Can't wait to see more!
