insulation on entry?

Do I need to put insulation on the outer arch/entrance outside the dome?
I'm deciding between a brick arch or a straight entrance that I could make with concrete on the top, in which case I'd want the concrete slab exposed for the look. I would think that since I'll have an insulated thermal break between the dome and entry, that I don't need insulation around the entry.

Re: insulation on entry?

It's not required. You are pretty much giving up the heat at that point anyway.

I am a amateur but I do not see the value. The heat will be held in the dome. Once the heat leaves the dome via the door and chimney is to gone.

If you frame your enclosure with wood, then it would be a good idea. Otherwise x3 with what has been said.
