Thanks Bill. It's probably going to end up looking a lot like yours. Scratch coat goes on this weekend.

Greg, great to see all the good progress. Sounds like a good weekend ahead for you.

I really like your door. I was looking at 2x2 pieces of sheet metal add OSH yesterday wondering how to make a door with it. What or how did you cut your sheets of steel? Heavy duty tin-snips? Or a metal grinder blade?

Your pizza looks delicious. Or was it the wine that had me salivating??? -Dino

Dino
I traced the shape of the door onto the sheet metal I bought at HD. added a two inch border all around for the thickness of the door and cut with tin snips. Then using a long blade set of vice grip pliers, I bent and shaped the metal as you see in my pictures. I then bent a 2" wide strip of alum around the door and screwed it into place. Filled the tray with vermiculite and fit the two pieces together and used a lot of screws. TADA.

The pizza is coming out perfect. Using the Caputo Flour really makes a difference in texture and ease of use.

Dino, if you have a jigsaw, they make blades for sheet metal. It worked much better than snips for me, especially for curves. The edge is a little sharp after cutting, but was easily smoothed with a file (or a Dremel type wheel).

Fires every Weekend since the curing two months ago. Got the pizza perfected and the tapas are coming along. Working up to some retained heat cooking. Monday morning the oven was at 430deg F after the previous nights pizza party. looks like you can have too much insullation ;-) But a good problem to have.
