| Yeh that looks like a normal airsetting refractory mortar. If you need, "fatten' it up with sand but shouldnt need it. Sand would give it a bit more guts. |

| Oh Man, I hate to jump in late here, but doesn't air set mortar mean that it continues to be able to be dissovled by water and therefore unsuitable for outdoor use?? I saw that it was a dry mix so did not think anything of it...usually the air-set mortars come premixed... |

| After proper mixing and air drying, heat stop 50 is non water soluble. Quote from the back of the bag. It does say it isn't waterproof, but non-water soluble means it won't run away like a sand castle when the tide comes in if it gets wet after drying. Breathe. Since what I'm using says specifically "air drying", I am assuming that what you're using is the same.
