Thanks Neil, I already have a very simple enclosure design in mind (and on a few napkins). But the most challenging aspect of the build will be the very shallow entry/vent area while trying to fit as large an oven that I can fit within the 48" round enclosure diameter.

Hey F
I think you came up with a great compromise here,, Looks like it will be solid and big enough to be functional as well.. I guess now we wont have to wait as long to see your oven being built,,
Cheers
Mark

I built and set the form, and poured the 48" round slab today.

Nice work. When you have finished the oven, you are going to need a fourth sono tube to support your concrete counter top (one edge sitting on the slab) like this:

Thanks Neil, I saw how you set your counter and it seemed very practical. I like your set up very much. But in my situation I have absolutely no space there to build a permanent counter of practical size. But I will try to come up with a solution as the oven build progress.

Thanks Mark.....I wish I can start cooking pizza by the end of the month. But I still have so much more cleaning up of our demolished deck to do in our back yard. There's so much debris back there I'm renting a 30 or a 40 yard dumpster.
I wish I can devote 100% of my free time to the oven, but at the same time I've gotta keep my wife happy (with the back yard work)...

Talking Stand is done!

I uncovered and took the supports and forms off the stand this morning. I will spend the next couple of days picking up materials locally.
A local dealer sells 24"x36"x3" insulating boards so I'll probably go with that instead of 5" of vermiculite/portland I had originally planned.
