question regarding oven floor

This is the first time I have posted on this forum and am looking foward to beginning construction of a 42" pompeii that will be accessible from the deck of my home. I have a few questions for anyone who has used perlite concrete. Is the compressive strength of perlite sufficient to support the entire weight of the oven or does it need to be directly under the floor bricks only? Also can it be coated with a thin film of refratory mortar to give a smoother surface for the fire clay mixture and floor brick?
