I am new to the whole idea of an outdoor oven and looking forward to designing and building one. But have lots of question. First, what design features should I incorporate for the cold winters and snow loads. I like the look of the dome style the best, so I hope to us that.
Re: Getting started
1. Set your footings below the frost line. You may need to build up your stand higher because of it.
2. A well-built dome will probably hold just about any snow load you can place on it. My concern with th "igloo style" is that waterproofing might be more difficult. However, I don't have any personal experience with igloo finishes. Look in the Design and Finishes forum for waterproofing info.
