I just bought bricks and had the same exact problem... the ppl didn't know what they were selling me and I bought whatever they had... The information in this post really calmed me down... maybe an administrator or something could work this bit about firebrick into the pompeii oven building guide... if it is already in there and I missed it I am sorry...
