Fire brick and cement block

1 Attachment(s)
Hello all!

We are putting in a barbeque pit next to our WFO. For the pit itself does anyone see a problem if the fire bricks are resting on the cement block (it would actually be the "walls" of the pit right up next to the "walls" of the pit structure). I had originally planned on a little space between them but things are looking to fit a little tighter than expected and I just want to make sure the heat wouldn't be an issue.

It would be similar to the pic below (not mine).

Thanks!!

Concrete will fail with heat, sometimes dramatically so, like bang, pop.
