Finally was able to get out to the stone center and replace the stone veneer with the correct style. I included a picture of the 2 styles to show the difference, one has straight sides, the other is irregular and meant to be grouted. Here is what we have left to do....

And finally, received a wonderful christmas present from the wife, a sign to go with our oven. Now just need to find a place to hang it!

Also still need to finish the LV lighting...

Closer and closer we come.....just a few more pieces left. LV lighting is in place, just need to run the wire and hook it up.

Yesterday we cooked pizza and closed her down around 8pm or so. At 330pm this afternoon, the oven was right at 450, so we decided to throw a few loaves of bread in. Temps here in NC today were in the 30's to 40's.

Most times, next morning the temp is right at 375-500 somewhere. Not sure why I get such a discrepancy. Firing times tend to be around the same, 2-3 hrs.

Progress continues.....got the lights in place, need to fill the crevices with mortar and caulk them in. Hopefully if it doesn't rain this weekend I can get the transformer in place and everything connected.

Cooked pizza last night for some guests that came over, bread this morning at 550 degrees, and the oven was still 430 degrees tonight, so we threw in a few birds. Tomorrow we'll continue cooking something else....

Between the cold weather, snow and rain, there really hasn't been any time to work on the build. That doesn't mean that we're not putting the oven to good use though.

Here's some Dakota bread and mashed potato rolls from the wood fired oven. Baked them the next day after making calzones for the first time.

That, I would wholeheartedly agree, is putting the oven to good use. Yumm.
