Default Re: buying firebrick

Ken,
glad you chimed in about the single blade for all those cuts. Seems we have several folks on other threads that are having or have had problems with blades. I keep saying it is not the blades, not the saw, and not the bricks. The average DIYer should get several projects (including an oven) out of a single blade.

jef, $1000 for shipping from CA to OR??? I don't even want to guess what shipping to FL would be. In fact, I didn't think about the shipping at all. I was thinking how great it would have been to have had one reasonably priced source of materials instead of shopping around for over a week.

Thumbs up Re: buying firebrick

Ken,

I built my oven out of medium duty. One blade to custom cut all 250 or so bricks.
My 40" Pompeii only has 120 firebricks cut in halves in the dome and hearth with around 30-40 in the front arch/ chimney void. Are your 250 bricks full or the half cut bricks?
If they are full sized an cut into halves, then you must have a very large oven.
I bought a cheap ebay 14" diamond blade for a commercial brick saw and used less than a quarter of the diamond strip, but I did try and cut a high duty brick which was like cutting through a solid block of steel and would be hard on the blades.
