Thanks guys

Alan that's why i'm not looking at making it a permanent fixture. I might make the hearth one permanent as they are hidden and out of the way.

KB found this thought you might have a look and let me know which option you would go with [as I believe you have already purchased yours].

Wholesale pid controlers Gallery - Buy Low Price pid controlers Lots on Aliexpress.com

David I will be going the porcelain probe route is what I was thinking of.

Colin,
This is the one I purchased.Dual Digital Display PID Temperature Controller SSR(2 Alarms)-in Temperature Instruments from Industry & Business on Aliexpress.com I paid $5.83 for the unit and a thermocouple. That's' with amazon discount etc.......
At that price I figured how could I go wrong. I think my was listed $25 for just the controller.

I fired it up today I'm happy with it. At the price how can I complain.

Well went out this morning picked up some scrap bits of stainless steel, to make tools, after visiting doctor and specialist. Nothing serious. Was 20 bucks for 7 pieces. Picked up some 9.8mm as tube 6m round $40 and some connectors and plugs bit pricy but got extra. So I can now make as many thermowells as I want. Spoke with Karangi and will go with his recommendation of 5, with a modification since the conversation as am not sure whether I will work on the right or left now. So will duplicate his suggestion both sides of the oven making 9.

And got home and sealed the dome. Keystone in. Yay.

Seriously no more teasing

Unveiling of keystone and of course closure of oven below.......

Delay was totally due to the firing not working the first time. Did not have enough glaze on the edges.

It you look close it is 3 dimensional due to the raised and lowered etching of the symbol in the brick. From outside the oven it is very effective. With the flared landing easy to see also.
