Hi David s,

Thanks for the advice. Your are right. Home brew it is.

Do you have any advice regarding thickness of mortar along parralel edges.

The design I am using is a vault from front to back with verticle sides (see attached image). The horizontal edges of the bricks used on the vault are no problem as they are touching with mortar in the "V" created as it wraps around the arch. The verticle edges, edges however will need to be spaced and what I would like to know is what thickness of martar would you use. 3mm, 5mm, 7mm or 10mm.

Any advice you have regarding this would be appreciated.

Cheers
Fornoa.

2-3mm if possible. Tighter the better.

Thanks Johnny,

Do you have personal experience with using home brew mortar at 2-3mm brick spacing?

As refractory sellers we dont get involved in the self mixed mortars, so no feedback. We sell TUSET SUPER, which is a Vesuvius product which replaced the old SUPER 3000 mortar. This is the bench mark on which mortars are based, 1650c rated, and sticks like the proverbial.
