Default Width/breadth of chimney

My oven's chimney is currently set at 5" x 9.5", but I have not yet determined the height (I know there's another thread for that).

From what I've read, my dimensions might give me problems with draw and/or else smoke coming out of the front arch.

If this happens, can I overcome this by building the stack higher?

A taller chimney always draws better. Standard size here is interior 7 by 7 inches, a rounded corner square. Sounds like about the same area as yours.

So even if i had the widest chimney in town, it would count for verry little if it did not have sufficient height to draw well?

I guess this is where the post about 'chimney height' comes in? I have the width (let's say 8" by 8").

Yes, chimneys work by differential in temperature. That's why they work better when the firebox heats up, and why indoor chimneys in the winter draw so well. The taller the chimney, the more temperature difference. My chimney is almost 20 feet high, and I still get gusts of smoke out the door on drafty days.
