Default Sealing (right word) Bricks on Super Isol HELP

Gang,

Not sure if want the answer to this... I'm almost done with my dome and had a scary thought. I leveled my bricks with fireclay/sand and put them directly on the super isol from FB. But of course there are small gaps in the bricks... which will be filled in with ash etc...

IS THIS GOOD ENOUGH TO SEAL THE SUPERISOL??? I know you don't want it exposed on the door but never thought about the floor/gaps betweent the bricks.

Let me know.

Your first fire will fill all cracks with ash. If wood ash was bad for you, we would all be in trouble. You'll be fine.

Cal-sil isn't that bad a substance. You don't want to breathe any masonry or refractory material dust when you cut it, but just lying there under your bricks it isn't going to harm anything.

Don't you just live for moments like that? Adrenalin rush!

Enjoy it while it lasts. I still miss building the dome - the most excitement around here is when I forget the bread in the oven...
