Decided to stop griping about the nettles and do something with them instead... In case anyone else has nettles in their garden, here's the recipe: Pastry made of 300 g flour 75 g butter 75 g coconut oil splosh of water Salt to taste Rub the fat, salt and flour together, add enough water to make a stiff pastry, allow to rest for 1/2 hour. Meanwhile pick and chop a handfull of fresh nettles (with gloves Line a pie tin with the pastry, add the nettle mix and sprinkle with some grated cheese (Gruyere is best). 3 eggs 150 g cream salt, pepper, nutmeg Mix and pour over the pie, bake at 240 C for about 15 mins, or 200 C for about 30 mins. Its very good eaten hot or cold.

Hi Dave.............nettles are any one of a number of stinging plants that have fine hairs under the leaf and on the stem. These hairs release formic acid when touched sometimes causing a nasty rash. Believe it or not there is an annual nettle eating contest in Bridport UK. Dandelions are another useful 'weed'. Mainly as salad greens but can be used to make wine. The UK has a soft drink called Dandelion and Burdock (a type of thistle).............

You're not being serious are you? Nettles taste ok, bit like spinach, but I wouldn't want to eat them all on their own. Got a lot of iron in them though, and their supposed to be very good for you (how off puting is that then?)
