Re: Denia Fallas 2008 We just returned from a glorious two weeks at Xabia Jim's and Xabia Vaughn's villa in the mountains overlooking the Med near Alicante. To say it's a super region and a spectacular villa is far too much of an understatement. XJ and XV were not only wonderful hosts, they introduced us to places and sights we never would have found on our own. We even survived the Valencia mosh pit of the burnings of the ninot, fireworks and mascletas by Pirotechnia Valenciana in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Still a bit on the deaf side. Wood fired duck at the Corral del Pato, amazing olives and oranges and capers and seafood and wine, great markets; it's still a blur.
Took a bit of time, naturally, for a bit of wood fired bread instruction using the villa's Spanish oven.
Anyone looking for a truly beautiful place to stay in the Costa Blanca should contact XJ for more info. You'll never be the same.
Jim
