FB will happily donate prizes, so we don't need to think about a voluntary contribution. Accessories are the perfect prize, I think.

Now I need to come up with a good way of setting up categories and automating the voting. I will check into our various software suppliers, and see if there is something out there.

More to come.

How cool is it that the guy from Reno gets us all into that gambling spirit? I love a flutter.. What is the prize for "most recycled materials in a pizza oven?"

James, how's the idea going? Should I head to the tables and place bets on the finish?

What criteria are to be applied. Best oven for pizza. Best for bread. Best looking. Best value for money. Best design. Best professional build. The variables are endless and there is always the danger of marginalising some members (especially those who like to browse but post little) who are already overawed by the technical excellence and build quality of a lot of the ovens on site?

I need to get going on this. My job is to see if there is an off-the-shelf voting extension for the forum software. Yikes.

Thank you James. I believe this is going to get all us members very excited and proud of those that have contributed hard work building them, and those that already have. Please admit all people with completed ovens for judging by the members. I guess there is no need to repeat my thoughts, so many other great builders will have ideas to share.

What categories should we judge? Assuming, of course, that I can find the software.

Best Overall Pizza Oven
Best Pizza Photo
Best Vent Design
Best Dome

Etc.?

Do we want some level of detail?

Also, as I search for software, are we asking builders to submit their oven for inclusion? Can people nominate ovens? Both?

I'm guessing I will know more when I find the software.

Absolutely. All builders should submit. One vote won't get a win, it will be determined by the peers. Multiple categories sounds great. So many elements to dome making that pleases so many. We may even get more participation from some of the silent members...
