Looks like I'll be coming and bringing a friend.
We will register Friday, right after I pick up him up from the Dr.
We're driving all the way from Eugene Oregon...
We'll try to bring good weather...

So, anybody know the cheapest hotel nearby?
I'll be driving just under 2000 miles roundtrip, and I'll be needing a bargain!
Thanks, if anybody knows...

PS I did read all the posts! Just looking for something very reasonable. Don't care about amenities.
Sincerely,

Rick - use Hotels.com (or one of the others). There are rooms for $44.00 (may be cheaper ones, didn't spend a lot of time looking), that seems pretty inexpensive for the area.

James!! I just checked out the weather for this weekend. Looks like we need to bring the umbrellas we had to buy the last time we were there.

So much for sunny California.

I'm sure we are going to have a good time - looking forward to meeting you all.

Everybody has to will us some good weather. Besides, the weather forecasters are always wrong. :-)

I met with the head chefs at Il Fornaio in Carmel today, and we agreed that they were going to use their imaginations and do some cool things. They have a wood oven and do all sorts for fun things -- rolled and fast baked pasta, meats grilled on the oven floor, etc.

Here's to good weather (we have ordered canopies just in case).

I just checked -- the weather has been upgraded to cloudy on Saturday and light showers on Sunday.

Rick,
The CHEAPEST motels will probably be in Seaside (other than for the Embassy Suites). The cheapest motels THAT YOU MAY WANT TO STAY IN would be right off Hwy 1 in Marina. There is a Quality Inn, Motel 6, Holiday Inn, Best Western and Comfort Inn right at the Reservation Rd / Dunes Rd / Beach Rd exit. It is about 3 miles to the Marina Airport and FB. There is also a Ramada Inn right on Reservation Rd (the main drag in Marina) that is only a mile or 2 to FB. This time of year is not exactly beach weather, and the AT&T Pebble Beach was last week, so it should be no problems getting a room.

Have a safe drive,
Ed

We will be taking in the Aquarium today, haven't been in years.
Have a safe trip,
See ya there,

James,

I haven't been to the site in a while (because I am temporarily without an oven) so just saw this thread last night. Just moved to California from Wisconsin, so that is the good news. But this weekend is miserably tight. I was actually going to be in Monterey on Saturday but will only have a couple hours that I can pull away from the current plan to get to the session. So my question is this, I am most interested in seeing how folks are getting the best results from their ovens, base on your understanding of what is planned which two hours should should I pick in your 11-4 schedule?

Alternatively, you could move it to the following weekend. Davis would be better for me as well.

Thanks, and what a wonderful idea.

Jim
