Hi Paul and welcome aboard.
What oven type and size do you have on the drawing board?
Are you lacking any of the required materials?
There is alaways the Aussies here to get you through the tough times.

Hi want to build an 900mm Pompei Have been in touch with several suppliers throughout the country . I want to use fire bricks and and 2or 3 layers of 25mm kaowool with about 50mm of render to water proof and am thinking about a mosaic finish for the external surface, but I have to bite the bullet and get the fire bricks , I work several thermal ceramic places that cast the floors for furnaces but dont use fire bricks some have old high duty refactory bricks hanging round but I was led to believe these are not very good for an oven. I will post some Photos when I get some Interesting ones .
Cheers Paul.:D

Hi Paul, welcome to the show.
It might be a bit further than you want to travel but have a look at Field Furnace Refractories. They're in Wetherill Park. They can supply most of what you need. I live at Picton and they were the closest supplier I found.

Paul,
Where abouts are you in Aus?
I have around 60 firebricks left over from my build and also 3 bags of fireclay.

welcome
There are forums here Re the use of bricks. Generally low duty bricks are better. None the less just about any brick will do even building brick. Building brick can present spalling issues but I digress. My guess is the bricks you have will work fine. They are probably harder and thus will be more difficult to cut but they should work fine.
