Cleaning Exterior Firebricks
Had a major mishap yesterday. I was cooking a whole baby pig (cochinillo) and flames licked my pan with all the rendered fat and I had a big flare-up inside the oven.
Now the oven is all black with soot/smoke.
My question is how do clean the outside bricks the flame reached? On the inside, I just turned up the temperature to 800F and left it there for 30 minutes and it burnt all the black stuff out. But there are parts on the outside of the the oven that are still black.
Does anybody know how to bring the bricks back tho their natural color?
