Default Newby in the UK

Hello all, I'm Pete and live in the North of England, near Manchester.

This summer, I am building an oven in the garden with the help of my two kids. I will have lots of questions once I get going!

I've only just started and am very taken with the Pompei oven plans, currently sourcing the fire bricks. I had a chat with a supplier today who suugested that it would be ok building the dome with regular sand and cement, then pointing the inside with fire cement. Anyone done this? Any opinions?

Pete

Why BP? Are you trying to save money?

I'm sure there are better opinions here but me thinks there is not a lot of pointing needed with tight fitting bricks.

I'd invest in a good high heat mortar mix....
