| How long did it take to cook? You can cook pizza at that temp, it's about the temp of a conventional oven. You'll probably be happier with another 100 degrees though. X

| I started finishing the outside of the oven. I cast the stainless steel chimney in refractory concrete, but I think that was a mistake. To increase the drying process, I heated it to 80degr C using a halogen lamp. Unfortunately it already started to crack I expect it to crack even further when I fire it up. So I consider that part lost... Will have to think of a different way to construct the chimney. Perhaps I will make an all SS sheet construction. I constructed a mold out of wood and aluminum sheet to make the outer shell of the oven and that works out really nice. The shells that come out have a real nice smooth finishing. Pics show the mold and the first 2 shells placed on top of the oven. I am using 2 layers of Superwool ceramic blanket and since I had some extra space left I decided to add a sheet of fiberglass insulation. R, R. Last edited by Peterrr : 04-25-2008 at 02:07 PM. |

| A brief update on the progress: I finally finished the 6th (and last) shell to cover the dome. I'm very happy with resulting catenary shape of the dome. Started also some tiling on the front for the landing. Next oven (..) will have a bigger landing area, would be more practical... R, R. |
